Is the Earth Alive?

Meet the project: “The Earth’s Pulse”

Our planet is 4.5 billion years old—an unimaginable span for our minds, far surpassing the scale by which we measure our personal time. Even the existence of humans as a species on Earth is negligible in the vastness of the Universe. Our own evolution has been moving us away from contact with nature, of which we are part. Our ancestors and even today, many native peoples have a greater awareness of respect for the Earth.

The Earth’s Pulse, that life of our planet as a geological entity, manifests itself to us
through heat (geothermal), vibrations (seismic events), and the effluvia of liquid gasses, pyroclastic activity, and magma. The knowledge of our own planet, the Earth, will allow us to improve our connection with it, to understand its power as well as its fragility, and to establish the peace with nature that we need so much.

The Earth’s Pulse is an interdisciplinary project that crosses art, science and technology. The aim of the project is to make us aware that the Earth is a living entity and that today it expresses itself with all its vitality. The project is an interactive performance composed by the performer, video mapping in real time, live coding music and the participation of the public.

Join us in exploring the heartbeat of our planet!
